Rare Fantastic O/b Landscape Painting Acoma Pueblo Sky City Jake Haverstick 1956
This is a Rare & Fantastic Estate Fresh old 1956 Oil on Canvas Board landscape painting titled Acoma Indian Village – New Mexico. The painting is signed and was painted by the well known museum quality Albuquerque Artist Jake Haverstick. This painting, when I saw it, took my breath away! The detail work is excellent and the colors are fantastic and the sky….. Quite possibly one of the top best paintings he ever did, and that’s not just my opinion. I love the subject matter of the Acoma Sky City Pueblo. So important to the Native American Pottery movement and its history. If you love their pottery, this is a Landscape painting of where it comes from. If one didn’t live around here you would never know they built their Pueblo homes and Church up on top of this Bute. Haverstick did an amazing job of capturing, not only the raw NM beauty of it but you can feel the spirt of the Pueblo and its people just by looking at it. There is also, in the lower rt foreground, a group of Native Americans on Horseback that appear to be heading to the Pueblo. Its really just a stunning painting and if I didn’t have to “step up” so much to own it, I would certainly keep it. Its rare to get the opportunity to own a painting by Haverstick and rarer still to find one this nice. Its a big painting, framed at 25″x35″ wide. And speaking of Framed, this is the original Frame, and it is one of those highly sought Original Design frames made and painted by hand by none other than Jake’s wife Fay. She was an incredible Frame maker and painter. This frame is stamp signed on the back by Fay Haverstick. What a wonderful piece of art to add to any home or office and build a room or a collection around. Jake Ralph E Haverstick (1898 – 1962) is known for Painting. Jake was fortunate to have met and. Herbert Buck Dunton; The famous Taos artist who was one of the founders of the Taos Society of Artists. He Mentored under Dunton in Taos in the 1930’s and then moved to Albuquerque with his wife Fay, who made the hand carved wooden frames for his paintings. Any questions PLEASE ask!
