Rare 17th-18th C. Mogul Indian PATA Sword with an fine Eurpean Swordblade

This sword probably dates from the 17th c. Come because it is equipped with my fantastic and slimm European 2-edged Rapier blade. This blade is 25mm (1) wide in front of the handle. The blade length is 101cm(39.8). The total length of this sword is 133cm(52.35). So it’s a very big sword. As is well known, these swords were the preferred weapons of the maratha cavalry and thus the warrior on horseback had a frightening range. Unfortunately, the blade does not show a smith’s mark only a small chisseled cross you can see at both sides of these blade, it may be signed under the mounting plates, but you can’t see it. I think it is an 17. Th. Italien or maybe an german rapierblade. An similar pata with an similar slimm blade you find in one of the reference books about the hollstein collection. This blade is still sharp and straight, no nicks, no pitting and no rust! The handle was forged from a single iron plate, you can clearly see the hammer marks on the inside of the handguard. The outside is kept relatively simple, there are an nicely flutes surface. The guard was original probably covered with silver, as was customary at the time, but unfortunately nothing survives te time. The hand guard is not demaged there are only some signs of the lifetime use, but no deep dents or big holes. I think that says everything about this sword, if you have any questions then please ask.
