Judd manufacturing company made some excellent desk sets in the teens and the twenties. One’s theme was al’s, another was Egyptian / camels that were designed for the Shriners and the best of all was the Native American Indian set. The Indian set, in my mind, is the best. I have listed 10 pieces of the American Indian set including the pen holder which I have never seen in any pattern nor has anyone I’ve spoken to seen it. There is no doubt about it that it is a rare piece. Take a good look at the photos and ask any questions. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Metalware\Other Collectible Metalware”. This manuscript is beautifully written paper. This booklet consist of several pages (study photos). It is very crudely made. This is made on a frail and fragile paper. The paper has some tears, holes, and damage. It is in overall rough condition with several blemishes from age. The pages are torn and falling apart, they have holes, some are stuck together, and many more blemishes are throughout. This is a low grade piece. It would be a perfect specimen for framing, or displaying. Its artistic calligraphic style is a beautiful example of early Indian calligraphic pieces. It is also value priced! This would be a great addition to any collection! Don’t pass it up! Be sure to check over the details and look at all of the photos so you will know exactly what you’ll get! Please note from the photos the binding. Some of my booklets are unbound, string bound, or a similar binding method. This piece is string bound. This was a “Ticket for Admission” and also says, Admit One, Enter at Gate 1. ” Game played at “Indian Field. Printer’s facsimile autograph is stamped on the back to prevent counterfeiting. The Indians won this game, 10-0. This was legendary Jim Thorpe’s first year as a football player at Carlisle. Ticket has some creases and wear. It’s encapsulated and guaranteed authentic by PSA. THE SOUTH-WESTERN MONTHLY, A JOURNAL DEVOTED TO LITERATURE AND SCIENCE, EDUCATION, THE MECHANIC ARTS AND AGRICULTURE. By William Wales and John Roberts (Publishers). Plus thirty- one plates. Bound in original marbled boards, which are present but detached. The text block in each is broken into sections, an excellent and worthy candidate of professional rebinding to your taste. Some dampstaining, and foxing throughout, more noticeable on some of the plates. A very rare complete set of this interesting and important Tennessee periodical, containing all twelve articles entitled “Early History of the Southwest, ” which constitute the main interest of the magazine for modern readers. After the magazine ceased publication with the December 1852 issue, the editors followed their intention stated in their last editorial and gathered all of the narratives into a book issued in January 1853 entitled INDIAN BATTLES, MURDERS, SEIGES [sic] AND FORAYS IN THE SOUTH-WEST. This was a collection of narratives by various authors. These had appeared separately as articles in the SOUTH WESTERN MONTHLY MAGAZINE, printed in Nashville during the years 1851-52. Apparently, few copies of the book were printed, judging from the very few times one finds records of its sale. The actual first appearances in print of all of the items in the book are the periodical versions. Articles include Sketch of the Captivity of Col. Joseph Brown, ” “The Indian Massacres in the Vicinity of Bosley’s Spring. ” “Indian Murders around Nashville – Narrative of John Davis, Esq. ” “Scalping of Thomas Everett and his two sisters, near Buchanan’s Fort. ” “Indian Battles and Murders – Narrative of General Hall, ” “Perils attending emigration from Virginia to the West. Burning of Sigler’s Fort. Narrative of John Carr, ” “The levy of men sent out from north Carolina. Samuel Blair, ” “Narrative of John Rains, ” “Massacre at Cavet’s Station. Virtually all of the narratives describe Indian fights in Tennessee between the 1780s and the War of 1812. An important rarity of Indian warfare on the Old Southwest frontier. This set has a remarkably large number of plates; other sets we know of have far fewer. All seem to be remainders from New York publications used as illustrations without regard to text. This item is in the category “Books & Magazines\Antiquarian & Collectible”. The seller is “crottsy” and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to North, South, or Latin America, all countries in Europe, all countries in continental Asia, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Egypt, Reunion.
